USRCCNE's Russian Old New Year Celebration
As has become tradition, members and friends of the USRCCNE gathered in early January (this year, January 10) to have a meal together and celebrate the Old Russian New Year. Russians have the advantage of celebrating many holidays during the late December to mid-January, including New Year, Russian Orthodox Christmas and then the Orthodox New Year (in accordance with the Georgian calendar and known as "Stari Novi God"). We have used this occasion as an opportunity for Chamber members and friends to get together on purely social basis over the past five years.
This year our banquet was held at the Russian restaurant “St. Petersburg Café,” in Newton, Massachusetts. It was a lot of fun to sit around a table of Russian zakuska, salads, and main dishes while catching up with old friends and meeting new people. Our thanks go to Leo Galperin, USRCCNE Board member and President of Language Connections for setting up the dinner. We look forward to more of you joining us next year in early January for this occasion.
