Tomsk seminar

Daniel Satinsky and Cynthia Bouthot, two of the partners in the Russia Innovation Collaborative travelled to Tomsk from February 13 – 17 to initiate collaboration with the Institute of Engineering Entrepreneurship of Tomsk Polytechnic University.

The first activity in this collaboration was an all-day seminar on February 16th on “Teaching Entrepreneurship.” The seminar included presentations by Satinsky and Bouthot on the practical aspects of key topics including the innovation ecosphere, business planning, business models, commercialization, intellectual property and fundraising from venture or angel investors. The Russian TPU participants included professors, administrators of the TPU innovation institutions, like their tech transfer center and outside participants including representatives of the Tomsk city innovation office and the Tomsk Special Economic Zone. The seminar included a lively discussion with the active engagement of all participants. It was also an opportunity for RIC to become exposed to the broad innovation and entrepreneurship potential of the Tomsk Region.

Satinsky and Bouthot will follow up with a return visit to Tomsk from May 26– 27 as speakers at the 14th Tomsk Innovation Forum, “Innovus 2011”.
