Global Technology Symposium

The annual Global Technology Symposium in Silicon Valley from March 23 – 25 was attended by several Chamber members: Daniel Satinsky and Cynthia Bouthot of Russia Innovation Partners and Renee Stillings of Alinga and SRAS. The Symposium is the brainchild of Alexandra Johnson, President, Global Technology Symposium and Managing Director of DFG-VTB Aurora. This year, the event was attended by around 300 people who came from around the world to discuss innovation, entrepreneurship and investment opportunities. A significant number of those in attendance came from Russia, including representatives of the Skolkovo Foundation, Rusnano and Russian Venture Company.

Wednesday, March 23 was “Russia Day” and featured a day-long menu of panel discussions of business plan competitions, venture and angel investment, innovation and global investment. The sessions on Thursday and Friday were not specifically Russia-focused, but included significant Russian participation. Lunch on Friday featured an in-depth look at entrepreneur-VC relations using the case study of the company Plastic Logic, which recently received a substantial investment commitment from Rusnano.

The Symposium is produced by a staff of volunteers led by Chris Stone, the Executive Director of Global Technology Symposium. The US Russia Chamber of Commerce of New England has been an information sponsor for many years. The event has become one of the premier networking venues for connecting Silicon Valley and the emerging Russian tech and innovation sectors.
